Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Speak Lock and related services.

1. Who we are

Speak Lock is an iOS app that helps users practice short speaking reps before unlocking selected distracting apps. In these Terms, "Speak Lock," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the Speak Lock service operator.

2. Eligibility and account use

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Speak Lock.
  • You are responsible for your device, settings, purchases, and any activity that occurs through your installation of the app.

3. What Speak Lock does and does not do

  • Speak Lock helps you protect selected apps and practice speaking through short prompts, transcripts, scores, and feedback.
  • Speak Lock is not a medical, mental health, education, employment, legal, or safety service.
  • AI-generated scores and feedback are informational and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or not suitable for your situation.
  • You are responsible for decisions you make based on app output.

4. Screen Time and device permissions

Speak Lock relies on iOS permissions and Apple Screen Time APIs. App shielding, notifications, microphone recording, unlock handoff, and emergency unlock flows may not work if permissions are denied, unavailable, changed by Apple, or limited by your device settings.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Some features may require a paid subscription or purchase.
  • Purchases made through Apple are billed, renewed, cancelled, and refunded under Apple App Store rules and your Apple account settings.
  • We may use trusted subscription tools such as RevenueCat and Superwall to manage entitlements and paywalls.
  • Prices, plans, trials, and features may change with notice where required by law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Speak Lock for unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, overload, or interfere with the app, extensions, backend, or third-party services.
  • Submit harmful, infringing, private, or unlawful content through prompts, audio, transcripts, support messages, or other inputs.
  • Use the service to generate or distribute harassment, deception, threats, or other harmful material.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the speech, audio, transcripts, prompts, and other content you provide. You grant us permission to process that content as needed to operate Speak Lock, provide scoring and feedback, troubleshoot issues, secure the service, and comply with law.

8. Intellectual property

Speak Lock, including software, design, branding, prompts, and service content excluding your own content, is owned by Speak Lock or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.

9. Service changes and availability

We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of Speak Lock at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent operation, and protected app behavior may depend on iOS and Apple platform rules.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

Speak Lock is provided "as is" and "as available" to the fullest extent allowed by law, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the app will always block or unlock apps exactly as expected.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Speak Lock will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or device access resulting from your use of the service.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, create risk for other users or systems, or if we need to comply with legal or platform requirements.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will be posted at this page with a revised effective date.
